We participated in an Easter Drive organized by three Bucharest associations to make the holiday a special experience for many children and elderly in a number of institutions.

At Grigore Alexandrescu Hospital - performing "The Answer to Your Problems..." skit

It was fun for us doing a skit/song in Romanian about the answer to all problems - Jesus' Love.

What Jesus Did
Nana Williams

On Easter, Jesus did a wonderful thing for us. But just how does this translate into everyday experience? A story told by Gigi Tchividjian in More Stories for the Heart* explains what can be yours because Jesus died and rose again on Easter.

In the story, there was a man who felt terribly guilty about a sin he had committed as a young man, because he thought God could not forgive him. One day he heard of an elderly lady who had conversations with God, and finally he gathered enough courage to visit her. Over a cup of tea, he asked if she could ask God a question for him.

"I would be happy to," she answered. "What would you like me to ask Him?"

"Well," the man began, "could you please ask Him what sin it was that I committed as a young man?"

The woman, who was quite curious by this time, readily agreed.

A few weeks passed, and the man again went to visit this woman. After another cup of tea he timidly asked, "Have you had any conversations with God lately?"

The woman said that she had, and that she had asked God what sin he had committed as a young man.

The man, nervous and afraid, hesitated a moment and then asked, "Well, what did God say?"

"He said He couldn't remember," she replied.

The Bible tells us that because Jesus took the punishment for our sins, God promises, "I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more" (Jeremiah 31:34).

Love, As Seen Through the Eyes of Children

A group of social scientists asked this question to a group of children: "What does love mean?" The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think.

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."

"Love is that first feeling you feel before all the bad stuff gets in the way."

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You know that your name is safe in their mouth."

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs."

"Love is when someone hurts you, and you get so mad but you don't yell at them because you know it would hurt their feelings."

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."

"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My mommy and daddy are like that."

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate."

"When you tell someone something bad about yourself and you're scared they won't love you anymore. But then you get surprised because not only do they still love you, they love you even more."

"There are two kinds of love—our love and God's love. But God makes both kinds of them."

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken."

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well."

"My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night."

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford."

"Love is when your puppy is so glad to see you even though you left him alone all day."

"Love cards say stuff on them that we'd like to say ourselves, but we wouldn't be caught dead saying."

"You really shouldn't say I love you unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."

"When they crucified Jesus, God could have said magic words to make the nails fall off the cross, but He didn't. That's love."

Love is not blind; it has an extra spiritual eye that sees the good and possibilities that others cannot see.—David Brandt Berg

Treat a man as if he already were what he potentially could be, and you make him what he should be.—Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Love is a great beautifier.—Louisa May Alcott

Everyone has good qualities. Find specific things about others that you can sincerely compliment them on, and be generous with your praise. If you can't find anything right off, look deeper. Ask God to show you the positive qualities that must be there, because He sees things worth loving and praising in everyone. The harder it is to find that special something, the greater the reward is likely to be for both of you when you do. If you can find even a threadlike vein and shine a little love on it in the form of praise, it will lead you straight to the mother lode. People will open up to you, and you'll discover lots of wonderful things about them.—Shannon Shayler
